English Summer Camp Update #1

First of all, I would like to thank all donors for their contributions in making this camp a reality. Special thanks to Radomire Middle School Principal, Mr. Lirim Deda, for the excellent support to this volunteer activity! None of my efforts would be possible without contributors’ generosity and continuing support from the local officials in Albania.
My dad and I leave for Albania early next week. As I have been busy collecting the necessary materials, the Radomire Middle School Principal Mr. Lirim Deda has been working with the local schools to choose attendees for the camp. There will be 22 students between 4th and 8th grade attending the camp. Of these 22 students, half are girls. We have been in contact with local businesses in Radomire to make arrangements for the free lunch that will be offered to students on a daily basis as well as for student transportation from nearby villages.
So far, almost all camp items have been purchased. For the English classes, I have assembled a set of textbooks (Side by Side, Book 1 & 2), as well as auxiliaries such as pocket dictionaries, introductory novels, notebooks, U.S. and Albanian flags, chalk, pens, and pencils. The textbook, Side by Side - International Edition, has been purchased for each of the students in the camp. For the extra-curricular activities, scheduled after morning classes, I have purchased soccer balls and other sporting supplies.
Additionally, I’ve designed a logo for the camp. The custom printed t-shirts with the camp logo have been ordered for all students and will be picked up later this week from a local business here in Blacksburg. A picture of the camp logo was posted last week, and of course more photos of the shirts themselves and other camp supplies will be updated to the site.
I’m excited and look forward to meeting the summer camp students in Radomire, Albania in less than two weeks.

Para se gjithash falenderoj te gjithe donatoret per dhuratat ne para qe kane dhene ne mbeshtetje te kampit veror. Shpreh mirenjohje te vecante per Drejtorin e Shkolles 9-vjecare Radomire, z. Lirim Deda, per asistencen e shkelqyer per kete aktivitet vullnetar. Kjo iniciative e imja nuk do te ishte e mundur pa bujarine e donatoreve dhe mbeshtetjen e vazhdueshme te zyrtareve lokal ne Shqiperi.
Bashke me babain tim do nisemi per ne Shqiperi ne fillim te javes qe vjen. Ndersa une po merrem me pergatitjet dhe materialet e nevojshme per kampin, z. Lirim Deda, Drejtori i Shkolles 9-vjecare Radomire ka perzgjedhur nxenesit qe do marrin pjese ne kete kamp veror. Gjithesej, do te jene 22 nxenes nga klasa e katert deri ne te teten qe do jene pjese e ketij kampi. Nga keta 22 nxenes, gjysma jane femra. Ne tashme kemi kontaktuar biznese lokale ne Radomire per blerjen e drekes falas qe do tu ofrohet nxenesve pjesmarres cdo dite si dhe per transportimin e nxenesve nga disa lagje qe jane pak me larg nga vendi i kampit.
Deri tani, pothuajse te gjitha materialet e kampit jane blere. Per klasat e Anglishtes, kam blere tekstet e metodes se anglishte “Side by Side” (libri i pare dhe i dyte) dhe materiale te tjera didaktike si fjalor, libra te gramatikes angleze, fletore shenimesh, flamuj Amerikan dhe Shqiptar, shkumesa, stilolapsa, lapsa etj.. Libra te metodes se Anglishtes “Side by Side – International Edition” jane blere per cdo nxenes pjesmarres ne kamp. Gjithashtu kam blere topa futbolli Addidas dhe paisje te tjera per veprimtarite sportive e kulturore ne kampin veror.
Vec ketyre, une kam dizanjuar logon e kampit veror te Radomires. Kam porositur bluza te bardha me menge te shkurtera (T-shirts) me logon e kampit te printuar per te gjithe nxenesit pjesmarres ne kamp. Keto t-shirts jane porositur tek nje biznes lokal ketu ne Blacksburg dhe do te blihen brenda kesaj jave. Nje foto e logos se kampit eshte postuar ne kete faqe interneti javen qe kaloi dhe natyrisht foto te bluzave si dhe foto te tjera do te postohen ne kete faqe ne ditet dhe javet e ardhshme.
